The legendary urban art exhibition “TheHaus” is back — as NFT project on the blockchain!
When urban art is combined with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), this symbiosis creates a whole new spectrum of art. From now on, this can be experienced digitally as NFTs in the metaverse “TheHaus on Chain”.
In spring 2017, almost 80.000 visitors saw “TheHaus” — the world’s largest exhibition for urban art to date. Before its demolition, people could experience how 10.000 square meters of a former Charlottenburg bank were transformed into a completely new piece of art.
165 artists from various disciplines such as graffiti, street art and tape art transformed the dreary offices, stairwells and corridors into a spectacular world of contemporary art. In order to preserve the unique pieces, the art spaces were scanned down to the last detail using photogrammetry before they were destroyed.
Together with the founders of TheHaus and Berlin-based VR agency Realities, we developed an NFT concept that gives users the opportunity to experience “TheHaus on Chain” as a digital collectors game. The blockchain technology linked with your VR glasses will turn the virtual exploration of the individual rooms into a unique experience. In the AR version of the NFT edition, the rooms can be freely placed in reality using smartphones or tablets.
The goal of “TheHaus on Chain” is to make Berlin’s most prominent art project completely accessible and explorable on the blockchain.
Today at 7pm UTC, the first NFT drop will finally launch on OpenSea, starting with Room 106 by artist Gogoplata. Four more rooms will follow shortly on a daily basis. In addition, the first rooms of “TheHaus on Chain” can be purchased and collected live at the “GO! NFT” exhibition at Berlin’s Nollendorfplatz.
